Starting a Nail Business

Starting a Nail Business

Starting ( or restarting ) a nail business can be overwhelming with so many things to consider. From perfecting your nail skills to setting up your salon and advertising, it's a lot to handle. But one of the toughest challenges is marketing yourself to attract new clients and increase your earnings. While many marketing expe rts offer advice on what to do, they often overlook the tools you can use to promote yourself  ( sometimes even for free ).
When I began my nail business 14 years ago, I faced the same dilemma. I had no clients and no support from family or friends since I had moved to Hungary on my own. Word of mouth was slow to spread, so I needed a faster solution. That's when I turned to Facebook. In 2010, I joined the platform and started sharing pictures of my nail work. I also created my own website and had posters printed out to showcase my services. To further promote myself, I went out and distributed flyers, handing my business card to every woman who showed interest in my nails.
By utilizing these tools, I was able to effectively market myself and grow my client base. How could i do that? I had a good selection of my own nail photos and used them.
When it comes to taking photos of nails, I always tell my students to think like a photographer. Think like you want to see this set of nails on the front page of a magazine.  Just like setting the scene, closing the blinds and capturing different angles, it's important to create visually appealing nail pictures.
And actually there are loads of other small and easy things you can do to make your nail pictures stand out. They are all in my "Nail Photography Mastercalss" course and I think they could be just what you need.
I love helping nail technicians to create stunning pictures of their salon work, using only their smartphone ( and maybe a few props).
